Other Looking for a class to play

I am looking for a class to play as my first and main toon on this server.

I am looking for a ranged dps class to play. I am planning to mostly raid during the endgame.

From what I gather so far :
Balance druids and elemental shamans are too weak to be considered.
Mages,warlocks and hunters are the only viable classes.

My question is - which among the above three is best for raiding ie which does the highest dps and has the best chances to get me into a good raiding guild ?

What faction are you planning to play? Also hunters are sub optimal dps, ónly slightly above elemental shamans if even. Warlock is probably a safe raiding spot on both sides.

I am definately going to be playing Horde.
Also, which race is best for mage and warlock on horde ?

mage is troll, warlock orc, though warlock doesn't really matter (in pve)

Warlock is by far the most needed. And race I dunno, i'd roll undead cause orcs are fugly.
