Dear Community,

The Kronos Team held our regular meeting 9th January. Many topics were discussed and debated, as well as some good discussion of good things coming down the pipeline. From the meeting we’d like to provide you with some key notes of things to look out for.

Silithus Geysers (#nosand)

This has been quite the debated topic in our forums, and was discussed in depth during the meeting. As a team we’ve looked at both sides of the issue and have decided that we will be taking an adaptive management approach when it comes to sand farming for honor. We have made the following changes:
- Summoning characters with sand is no longer possible (fix was added overnight).
- The bigger change is we will be reducing the amount of honor per turn in from 199 to 25.

Note: These measures are not permanent, and we will be reviewing all aspects of the results from these changes in one months time. We’re quite aware of some of the possible outcomes, and depending on how things go we may review things sooner if we deem a need for it. As a team we are working on trying to find a “happy medium” so that our PvP community remains healthy, and we hope that as we continues to grow so does our PvP community. We feel being adaptable and keeping a close eye on things will help us eventually work our way to that “happy medium”.

In Game View Distance

We are very happy to report that in the upcoming days we are going to be significantly increasing the view distance for characters within the game. Th only place where you won’t see this possible will be when you’re flying on flightpaths. But for those who have been requesting the ability to see further in battlegrounds, you’re in for a real treat!

Loot Issues

One of the biggest challenges for us as a team are tickets created for items that have been mislooted in raids and/or dungeons. If you’re a player who has created a ticket for these issues, you definitely know that waiting at least 1-2 weeks for resolution of these issues is not uncommon. We feel that this wait is something we can greatly improve on, and while some of this can be improved upon on our end (which we are taking steps to do internally), one of the biggest hurdles we face are repeat “offenders” (guilds/players). A lot of the wait players experience is due to numerous repeat players having tickets in for multiple issues. On any given raid night it’s not uncommon for us to receive upwards of 3-5 tickets minimum for loot issues. As you can imagine, these issues begin to gum up the system. We understand that sh*t happens and that loot issues can even be caused by the game itself. So after a lot of discussion we have decided that we will be putting the responsibility back on the players to ensure that loot is distributed correctly the first time.

Starting this week, we will be instituting a “Loot Incident Quota”. This quota is not designed to punish the community, however, it is there as a deterrent for players/guilds that continuously create tickets for the same misloot issues repeatedly from them every week or two. Our hope is that this will help reduce the time it takes to resolve loot issues, and help overall ticket times as a whole. With this new quota system, we will be providing the community with the format that these tickets MUST be created using. More on this will be provided a bit later in the week.

Bug Tickets and Kronos Rules

The other big cause of tickets our team receives (which causes slow downs in assisting players with important issues) are bug tickets. In the rules section, we have it listed on how bugs are to be reported. Up until now we have been handling these as tickets and informing the community to report it on the bug tracker. Moving forward in order to help better assist the community with priority issues, all bug issues must be reported only via the bug tracker on twinned. Tickets for bugs will be deleted without reply. To help, we will be doing a “spring clean” of the rules section of the Kronos website. The steps on how to report bugs will be clearly marked.

Kronos Team Recruitment

With a new year, comes new opportunity. Have you ever felt like you could be doing more to help make Kronos the best Vanilla project out there? are you community driven and want to see Kronos thrive? Here’s your chance! Later this week we will be accepting applications for both Game Testers and for Game Master positions! Keep your eyes peeled for more information and for how to apply.
And that’s it from the team meeting today, keep your eyes open for more news and updates in the coming week(s). We like to thank you, our community for being the best Vanilla community out there. We look forward to what the future has in store!

Oh, before we sign off. Have you been hearing unsettling rumbles and noises around Azeroth? they seem to be specifically coming from four locations, and they sound like they’re getting closer… Not to mention that eerie feeling we’re getting when we enter the sands of Silithus. It almost feels like something ancient is lurking just out of sight, something… godly. Maybe it’s just us, we hope…
