I have just stumbled upon these old changelogs:

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.5.0 (2005-06-07)
Battlegrounds arrive!

The Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley Battlegrounds are now available. The Warsong Gulch entrances may be found in the northern Barrens near the Mor'Shan Rampart (Horde) and south of Silverwing Outpost in Ashenvale (Alliance). The Alterac Valley entrances may be found east of Sofera's Naze in Alterac (Horde) and in the Headlands of Alterac (Alliance).

Patch 1.6.1 Changes (2005-08-02)
Alterac Valley

[li]Each team will now gain additional bonus honor if their towers are not destroyed by the end of the map. The more towers that remained intact, the more honor received[/li].
[li]If you manage to keep your faction's Captain alive for the duration of a battle, you will be granted extra points upon victory.[/li]
[li]Several Alterac Valley vendor items are now bind on acquire.[/li]
[li]The respawn time for tower guards (assuming the tower has not been destroyed) has been greatly increased.[/li]
[li]Korrak the Bloodrager has gained immunities to many different spell and ability effects.[/li]
[li]The minimum reputation needed to send a cavalry charge has been reduced to Honored.[/li]
[li]Players of Revered or higher reputation may now call offensive air strikes if they have managed to rescue their respective Wing Commanders.[/li]
[li]Alterac Valley's guard spawn is now controlled via a more intuitive mechanism. Please check the Officer Supply vendors for your faction to read up on the changes.[/li]
[li]Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the Alliance team from receiving honor for destroying towers.[/li]
[li]Fixed a bug that was not awarding Horde credit for owning a mine at the end of a game.[/li]

Patch 1.7.1 Changes (2005-09-22)
Alterac Valley

Battleground "holidays" have been added to Warsong Gulch, Alterac Valley and Arathi Basin. Holidays occur during most weekends, starting on Thursday night at midnight and continuing until Tuesday morning. During a holiday, emmissaries from that Battleground will be found in the major cities, and honor/faction rewards for performing objectives in that battleground are increased.
Alterac Valley now correctly rewards honor for owning graveyards at the end of the game.

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.8 (2005-10-10)
Alterac Valley

Each Battleground has an individual turn-in quest associated with its related victory/loss condition. Upon completion of a Battleground, the winning side will be awarded three Marks of Honor while the losing side will be awarded one Mark of Honor. Three Marks of Honor may be turned in to the associated questgiver for Honor Points and faction increase. Should players complete this turn-in quest, they will find that the bonus Honor Points for completion are twice that of normal turn-in conditions (individual).
Alterac Valley has received an overhaul:
[li]In order to keep teams in Alterac Valley more numerically balanced, players will now enter Alterac Valley on a one-for-one basis (i.e. if there are 30 players in the battleground for each side with 10 players in the Alliance queue and 2 players in the Horde queue, only two players from each team will be added, bringing the total to 32 per side).[/li]
[li]The minimum number of players required to start a battle in Alterac Valley has been lowered to 20 (the maximum is still 40).[/li]
[li]Points for completing the map and winning have been slightly decreased.[/li]
[li]Graveyards and graveyard capture points are now at different locations. This was done to correct the negative behavior and tactics associated with graveyard captures and the subsequent player swarming factor. Graveyards should be much more meaningful now to both defense and offense.[/li]
[li]Several terrain changes were made to fix some geometry exploits as well as to adjust for the new graveyard mechanic.[/li]
[li]Iceblood Graveyard has been fortified.[/li]
[li]The Frostwolf Relief Hut now has appropriate guards.[/li]
[li]A great avalanche has closed off both the eastern and western segments of Alterac Valley. This has displaced the Syndicate, the Woodpaw Gnolls, and many of the Winterax Trolls.[/li]
[li]Due to the avalanche, Korrak the Bloodrager and a small band of surviving Trolls have made the Snowfall Graveyard their new home. Players will find that Snowfall is now under Korrak's control and they must defeat Korrak and his Troll guards if they wish to take Snowfall.[/li]
[li]The quests Korrak the Bloodrager (Alliance), Korrak the Everliving (Alliance), The Legend of Korrak (Horde), and The Return of Korrak (Horde) have been removed from the game. The rewards for the initial quest involving Korrak have been moved and can be acquired by completing the quest associated with winning a match in Alterac Valley. We realize that some players may have had the Korrak quest and never completed it. These players may have already completed the quest for killing the General and thus might not be able to benefit from the rewards from the previous quest line. We have opted to add an extra quest step at the end of the General kill quests to reward players that fall under such conditions.
A new item has been added as one of the reward choices for the quests Hero of the Stormpike and Hero of the Frostwolf.[/li]
[li]NPC difficulty has been scaled down. All NPCs have had their power reduced by 15-30%.[/li]
[li]There is now a portcullis at the end of each of the entrance tunnels inside Alterac Valley. They will rise two minutes into the battle.[/li]

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.9.3 (2006-02-07)
Alterac Valley

[li]The default graveyards in Alterac Valley for each side were moved further up the tunnels away from the battlegroud exit. This should prevent accidentally leaving the battleground.[/li]
[li]The chokepoint building leading to the towers in the Horde base in Alterac Valley will no longer dismount players.[/li]
[li]Multiple Battlegrounds Queues
Players will be able to enter multiple battleground queues. No longer must you make the hard decision of which queue to join -- when queued for all three, you can join the first one available or hold out for that particular battleground which you've really got your heart set on. Should a queue open while you are already in a battleground, you may switch to the new battle or remain in the current on.[/li]

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.10.0 (3/28/06)
Alterac Valley

[li]Flavor items from player loot in Alterac Valley will now stack and can be sold for a small value. These are items like Documents from Boomstick Imports, Worn Running Shoes, etc.[/li]
[li]Players in Alterac Valley will no longer drop Darkspear Troll Mojo, Dwarf Spines, Forsaken Hearts, Human Bone Chips, Orc Teeth, etc. and the quests have been removed for these items. Instead when a player is slain in Alterac Valley, any enemies that were in that player's threat list will gain 1 point of reputation with either the Frostwolf or Stormpike factions.[/li]
[li]Frostwolf and Stormpike faction will now be gained by killing players of the opposite faction. Reputation will no longer be split up among the entire raid group.[/li]
[li]Tower Banners in Alterac Valley can no longer be used through walls.[/li]
[li]Korrak the Bloodrager and his band of trolls have packed up their bags and left Alterac Valley for greener pastures.[/li]

World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.11.2 (7/11/2006)
Alterac Valley

[li]Most of the NPC guard units have been removed.[/li]
[li]Players now drop more quest items.[/li]
[li]Creatures that remain in Alterac Valley have had their hit points reduced.[/li]
[li]The buff that is periodically cast by each faction's Captain has been changed to a flat 20% hit point buff.[/li]
[li]Upgrading troops through armor scrap turn-ins will also now result in your team's General enabling a periodic buff to your melee and spell damage.[/li]

Which version of AV will be present on Kronos? This is a huge deal for me actually, because i consider 1.7.1 to be the last great installation of this battleground.

Really good find. I agree with you in that the 1.7.1 version of the map was the best incarnation.

It will be as it was in 1.12. 1.7 used a different map, and had more area to it. If Kronos wanted to do that, they'd have to make a custom modification to the client, and I believe they're against that.

I also think they will stick to the 1.12 version, hard enough to get this one 100% fixed ;)

AFAIK and like has been stated on other questions similar to this, the staff said that most core stuff like that are going to be like it was in patch 1.12.1. I'm pretty sure that has been stated too that they are not going to change anything to a previous patch version.

It would be awesome, however, if they could implement the pre-nerf version of AV, same as it was done on another realm with excellent results. The older AV had battles that could last for hours, the nerfed one was just a rush for the enemy general where opposing players barely confront with one another at all.

Eh, I had hoped I could see Alterac in all it's glory, instead of the braindead PvE zerg rush it had become.

Blizzard managed to turn the best BG into the worst.

The version is not really relevant, the more important question right now is if there will be enough people to play it...

with the current problem with the queue system, we wont have that much AV, because once WSG pops AV Queue will lose another 5 people from the queue. Endless queue where people constantly queue for WSG and keep wondering why AV doesnt pop.

Hopefully all our friends from level 51-59 will be attracted by its release, if not enough, well people will just say low pop again.

You have to keep in mind , alliance pugger mostly queu just av ,there is ton of people which are interested in av reward , while none care about wsg

Don't forget it is way faster to get AV exalted then the other bg's

Everyone that spent 1 second to "facepalm" this (lol) is probably playing on another server.

The world chat is continuously begging to "join WSG", which is 10 vs 10, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to foresee what will happen to AV.

You are forgetting about the PVEers like myself and many others who don't normally queue for BG's that will need AV exalted for items. But since it doesn't take that long to get exalted, lack of people might be a issue later, but at least in the beginning I think there will be enough people to make it work.

Welp. Now there exists a single reason for me to prefer another server to Kronos. AV is my favorite thing in WoW. I just wish we could get old AV with the quality of Kronos.

some things were just much more enjoyable on the early patches, but many private server devs dont get that for some reason...

Maybe because they're "private server devs" and not "WoW client devs"?

To bring back "the glory" of the old AV, changes to the client are mandatory. Now you DON'T want to make those changes because:

1) All players would need to get the custom client, and in these shit times many will not do it, because they won't trust a modified client, and that's a very good idea, or they won't do it just because they don't give a shit about AV, which will most likely lead to population decline

2) Kronos will need for sure to make updates to the client as they will for sure find bugs after the release of the "glorious" old AV, which all the players again will need to download and install manually, because I don't imagine the small Kronos team has time for a downloader, which again would be something some people would not trust anyway

3) It will take a lot of time to change the client and the result will probably be crash prone and generally fubar

Also "more enjoyable" is subjective as fuck, so there's nothing "to get" in that regard. Your dream girl can look like a fucking ghoul for many other people :w00t:

Guess why the map was changed? Cause it was plain aweful before. It had really big advantage for alliance side. Even more then 1.12.1 AV.

You can have unnerfed AV NPCs without having the old map.

Nah, I remember back when AV was about to be released on ED, the same discussion happened about what version of it would be released. The devs said it was gonna be the 1.12.1 one, then the players' demand for its pre-nerf version was so strong that they were finally ok with it, and the server population bursted after that. No severe changes had to be made to the client either, no crashes nor bugs emerged after the release.

I agree that the pre-nerf version of AV means a big deal to the epicness of vanilla WoW, it would be a real shame if a realm like Kronos would willingly miss on such an opportunity. Moreover, if Feenix managed to successfully implement it... well, enough said ^^

Here is a [strawpoll] if people care to vote on which AV they would prefer. I am sure that, if anyone can, the Kronos team could pull off a pre-avalanche AV; the data is all still there.

This would req the old client before 1.8 to make it 1:1 old AV and no Feenix did not do it.
They did some nonblizzlike shit and all noobs that never played retail was like "OMG ITS PREE AB TY FEENIX BOT SERVER!"

Shit everyone that has a brain knows you need a specific client to get a specific map.

not to mention the map was incredibly imbalanced pre 1.12 - hell, its even imbalanced at 1.12

And apart from a few additional NPCs that spawn its pretty much the same, so why implement a map that favors one side? Oh and to all those people stating "1.12. is just a rush to the boss", good luck trying to kill the bosses w/o tapping/destroying bunkers and towers, they're gonna twoshot your tanks...
You'll see there's plenty of things to do in AV 1.12 version
