Druid Abolish poison

Does anyone remember hoe abolish poison worked on retail vanilla?
Can you apply the buff to players even if they don't have a poison on them?
Or do you get an error message that there is no debuff to despell?
I can't find a source for that. In other server it works like the first option. I hope this is correct an works this way on kronos as it is awsome to counter a rogues blind

Yes, it is possible to pre-abolish yourself to counter blinds. Am I on the right track?

It is the best feeling when fighting a rogue and you predict the blind just right to pre abolish it.

Yes. I am 100% certain you could put abolish on someone without them having to be poisoned.
