If I get the issue correctly, you only need to avoid that one premade group leaves BG and joins another. That would take them 15 minutes of Deserter debuff to wait for another join.

But if you still think that isn't enough, how about a 15 min Deserter for leavers who joined solo and 60 min Deserter for leavers who joined BG via Group Queue?

@psojed Nope, you need to avoid one group joining the bg queue, seeing that the bg that popped for them is gonna be against the other premade and thus not accepting the bg invite and requeueing, while that first bg fills with solo queuers instead.

Oh, then no need to do the 60min Deserter, simply add the Deserter after you fail to answer your call for battle.

More like add deserter when someone doesnt enter bg when it pops. -> maybe for the first time 15, then 30, 45mins ... to make this avoiding premades and making pvp so much easier ineffective.
But if the one leaves queue before it pop-ed, let it without deserter.

I'm all for anything that nukes out queue dodging and rigging matches. If it's left in as an option for players to abuse, they will do it. Kronos will get a LOT of malcontents from other servers on launch.

In response to the being AFK when a queue pops and getting a penalty for it... well, simply drop out of the queue if you're going to walk away from your machine. That's simple enough.

On the other hand, i can imagine many situations, when you are queueed for BG and when it pops, you can't join so you refuse it and queuee again in next 5 mins.

Please enlighten us. I can't imagine a single one.
You are in the middle of Escort Quest, you are two NPC kills away from completing quest on the other side of the world, your pizza is just finished and you have to remove it from the oven, you went to toilet for a minute and so on...

I understand your point about missing a queue for being AFK to handle a pizza timer going off, or having to hit the bathroom, or maybe you're tabbed out to research some tradeskill mats for planning out something for a guildmate. I get that. Here's the situation though.

When a person joins a group to run a normal dungeon instance and tells the group "I need 5-10 minutes to finish something, I'm flying to the nearest flightpoint now" - it's no big deal because the group will wait or whatever. Because it's assumed that everyone has set aside time for the full dungeon run, a commitment will be made, etc.

When a person joins a battleground queue, it's pretty much the same as above. Only now, it's a situation where dropping a queue and just rejoining a few minutes later can be used to rig fights and team sizes, and pretty much you are setting up something where you aren't asking people to wait for you or waste their time for you. Your taking advantage of dropping and re entering the queue is FORCING those people to have their time wasted with the end result.

The server hasn't launched, and we don't have a problem like what I've described on our hands. Yet. But I don't think it's unrealistic to expect it to happen if steps aren't taken to avoid it, and the best step is to simply force a player not to enter the queue at all if they don't have the time to commit to it.

tl dr; be in the BG queue if you currently have the free time to fight in it. drop from the queue if you don't.

Well, i admit that it can be a problem. But i still doesn't feel right about geting 15 min deserter when you have been waiting for a 40 mins for BG and then missed it cuz of some RL stuff. On the other hand, it shouldn't be an issue with large community with short waiting timers.

Let me remind you that when your BG pops, you have another 1:30 to join before you're removed. You can easily kill two NPCs in that time, come back from WC or remove stuff from your oven. And with the exception of that escort quest, you can also press "ENTER BG" first, then go for the pizza or whatever.

I stand by my suggestion - add Deserter debuff after player fails to accept a popped BG que.

And this would be only when you join a queue as a group? Because as a single queue this might be a bad idea...happens alot that i join, queue pops 20 mins later..and i got interrupted or something.

When i join as a group, the mindset is different...i wouldnt let me get distracted.

Giving people a deserteur is they deliberately not take the Q when it pops is the only valid solution so far.
It has some drawbacks, but I guess they are acceptable.

I rly dont know why it should make a HUGE rage. It is just to prevent dodging another group -> to make the game fair.
When it pops and you rly have to do some family, personal or redtube stuff, then accept deserter gladly and solve your RL problem. I try rly hard, but i cant see any harm what that step could make to any player..

Edit: i think skosh said it quite well

The most harm is not caused by Q dodging, its caused by players who refuse to fight back and just AFK at GY or w/e. Thats an issue that should be addressed imo.

When you fight among PU against full premade team, it is rarely if not never a fair fight and you're most of the time camped by the dominant avoiding to cap last flag and enjoying the slaughter.

Sometimes I can understand those AFKing at GY, what if you can't do anything against your opponent ? I know having skill is really important but raid composition, vocal, organization and gear does also a lot; a good portion. We can't avoid it but can endure it with many ways and this is one of them.

@Wind, most of the time its the other way arround. You don't stand a chance BECAUSE you AFK, not you AFK because you DON'T stand a chance.
