Mage AoE grinding worth it at earlier levels?

I've been leveling Frost for the most part so far, with the intention of AoE grinding a bit to break up the monotony of questing. But with how populated the server is, I'm finding it kinda difficult. At 31, I'm currently AoE'ing the Nightbane Vile Fang worgen in Duskwood, but there's so many other people killing those mobs that it's really hard to make pulls larger than 4-5 mobs.

Of course, these mobs are part of a quest so it's not that surprising that people are killing them; the next AoE spot on the list is Go'Shek farm in Arathi, and I don't think there's any quest associated with killing those mobs, however...the spot is very close to Hammerfall, so I'm going to be ganked relentlessly by every single horde that passes by.

It's not until 37-38 that I get to the murlocs off the coast of Dustwallow, which don't have any quest associated with them, and won't have lots of horde running through.

So is it worth it to go Fire until ~38 and just skip aoe grinding for the moment?

Go'Shek isn't reliable. There's an escort for Alliance, but having it cleared already helps tremendously. The issue is, a ton of Mages are already there grinding that place to death. Horde isn't much of a threat because there are plenty of Ally there already.

I would probably respec til 38 if I were you, unless you can find a good spot that isn't farmed. Don't worry about it being in a contested zone.

Don't worry unless if you feel like corpserunning every 5 minutes or, as you said, a horde passes by. Go deep frost then arcane for your own peace of mind or don't if you are planning to hit 60 at 9+ days played.

Also, hordies do have a quest associated with the DMarsh'es murlocks, looting their heads.

Yeah, I'm just going to switch to a Shatter/Ice Shards/Frostbite spec until 40 or so. I already have around 60 frost damage on my gear (Azure set + a few Frozen Wrath greens)

I suppose once I hit 40, I can put my next 3 points into Imp Blizzard; just in time for the pirate cove in Tanaris, one of the best AoE farming spots.
