What is it, and does it work?

Seems very very cool, even if its not useful. I like that lore/fluff stuff in Professions.
And I've always wanted to try Alchemy.

Not very spectacular, but could imagine it being useful for raids or questing in some cases.

Just tried it, it works. Your characters lies down and you are able to move in a sort of out-of-body experience. You are really slow though.

If you lie down is there the sleeping animation as in the video?

No zZZzzZZ, but you lie down as if you were sleeping.

But can we see game objects and NPC/PC at its real states when far away from our sleeping bodies?

The dream vision is pretty slow thus you can't really get far away. While dreaming you can see all objects and NPCs.
