Suggestion:
It would be nice if we could pay $5 or something to reserve a character name prior to K3 going live.

Has been suggested back in 2015 (before the launch of K1). Doubt they will bother this time (although for me it looks like easy money + some pleased players).

This was an idea that we have brought up. The idea is simple, the implementation of it is not so simple. We'll have an update if there is one.

...The implementation of it is not so simple...
0. Database with all reserved names.
1. Link between account and specific name. (Probably already exists, since you have a shop where purchases are tied to accounts.)
2. An additional check during name creation to test if the name is in the DB from step 0.
3. Another check to test if logged account is the one who reserved the name.

The idea itself, however, is terrible, for example, because of:
...i would buy all most-know nicknames and then sold them for inhuman cruel barbarous prices...

Not so terrible. Perhaps allow a main and an alt.

Also, this is a one-time thing. There will be no need for it after launch. So why try to solve this with technology? Maybe the old pen and paper way makes more sense.

When you pay with paypal, you include the race, class and name.
Then the admins just create your character for you. No special tech needed.
Maybe its a bit more of a hassle, so you charge $10 with a limit on a main and 1 alt.

If paid it just opens the door to jerks with credit cards buying every cool name they can think of.
If just a name reserve that could be ok.

Again, not as simple as that with Twinstar's current system. If it was, it would have been done by now.
