I was here pre Nost shutdown and it was much better than what we have currently. At least there was levellers. I was in the EPL last night and was the only Horde in the entire zone. It's time to face reality. The two new projects opening in the next few months are going to attract players from here because of their population. The only way you can counter it is by merging. A merged Kronos isn't going to have an insane pop like the other place, so nothing to worry about. They could even cap it and I don't think people would mind as long as it's reasonably high.

You are entitled to your opinion, even flawed as it may be. I have been here for a long time, I have seen the server survive very well with a "low pop", and have seen the server grow by leaps and bounds. Even if some players leave to play elsewhere then that's their choice, Kronos will move on with or without them. Writing off Kronos as "rip" is unoriginal and an uneducated opinion.
What's even more concerning than the actual state of the server is how you, and your team, are either; completely silent, or posting on reddit instead of discussing it with us. Believe it or not, a lot of us want to keep playing here!

We're now 17 pages deep into this thread with the majority of people being positive to the idea of a merge in some kind of way, but you havn't responded to that what so ever, other than saying that "It's fine" on REDDIT?

Oh and I'm not even gonna comment on your colleague that posted this:

Personally I think the only way to actually 'merge' things is to pick the server with the higher population and offer the players on the lower population servers a free transfer - but where they lose their equipment/money/items. (This is just my opinion)
in another thread that later got deleted from the graveyard. You really think nobody would save that?

That's all true, but you seem to miss the point of all these posts. Back then you had only one server and now there are two. Even though there was a low population, Kronos was surviving because everyone was under the same banner. New player would join the project and roll on Kronos, end of discussion. Now it's a different story. Even if that 1 out of 100 players decide to roll on Kronos over Nostalrius or what ever the fuck that new server is, he still has to choose between K1 and K2. So to put it into the perspective, each server will be getting 50% less new players then the old one did, which is not enough to keep it rolling. And that's assuming the number of new players rolling on each server is equal. If one server start dominating in that department and picking up every rare new player to roll here, along with low population I don't know how the other one can survive.

That's why people from K1 cry for merge lately, not because we hate K2 or because we are jealious of their higher population, we cry because they take ALL new players which inevitably lead to server's demise since old ones will always keep on quitting the game. If there is noone to replace them, how can the server survive? K1 still didn't die because it had big capital to begin with (2-3k at peak), but as time passed it started shrinking exactly because of reasons above.. Now add massive population reduction which is about to hit both servers on a trend where one server takes all new players, another one can't survive. K1 might as well end up as the dominant server because K2 will lose a lot more with Nostalrius relaunch and offers extra content, but both can't live. That's why we ask for merge, last thing we need is the fight between these two servers for every rare new player to join the project, and the sooner the better before players of a server which is destined to die leave Kronos for good.

Is this so hard to understand?

I don't understand the animosity and the aggressive tones coming into this thread. People have been clamouring for pop numbers since Nos went down. Understand that even when we had our highest post nos peaks, we didn't release numbers; this is not going to change. Keeping numbers internal to a select few helps keep Kronos going safely. You want a giant bullseye on your project? release player base numbers. How well did that turn out for the last "big guys" having big brother knocking on their door. We're still here, and we plan to be for a very long time.

You want stability? Twinstar has been around for over 10 years strong. You want continuity? Twinstar has numerous expansions which are continuously being worked on in order to give players the progression that many crave. You want commitment? Twinstar and the Kronos team have faced adversity at every turn, and we have prevailed over insurmountable odds. Our dev team are constantly working on fixing bugs and making the player experience better. Our GM team are committed and dedicated to not only helping the community but improving it. All non head GM related tickets have an average solution time of under 2 hours, many tickets resolved within an hour.

Understand that "hype" happens for almost every new server that comes along, whether it recycles a former project or is a "hot out of the oven new entity". I am sure that the other project will do well, and we wish them well. People act like there's competition, when in fact none exists. We're all projects that want to share something special with players. Everyone involved with these projects donate their time and effort to give players something special, some place to call home. We do not force players to play here, nor do we threaten people to not leave. We offer what we feel is a lot of value, longevity, stability, and continuation that we feel no other project has yet to match. Are we perfect? not even close. Do we claim to be? never have, never will. Is there a perfect project out there? no, nothings ever perfect. We are here for the players, we are here to share the fun and legacy that this game once possessed. We have always been, and will always be community first. Players can hate us if they want (can't make everyone happy), trolls can hate monger and hype other projects as much as they want, players who played other projects that got shut down and came to kronos only to continue spewing hate will never change. But for every loud voice of hate you hear, there are 5 voices of players with no agenda who enjoy their time with us. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, it's rare the other wheels will seek attention. We are who we are, love us, hate us or somewhere in the middle, we will keep on doing everything we can to the best of our ability. We love our community and will always go above and beyond for them.

As an aside. Rather than speculate (erroneously I might add) on what the plans are for k1/k2, when we have an announcement you all will be the first to know. I promise you that.

While I do not know of the thread/message in question, that was personal speculation from a team member and not any sort of comment from the Admin team. For that I apologize. In our weekly GM meeting we have informed our team members that they are not to speculate or make comments on anything future related. The GMs primary responsibility is to help solve tickets and assist players, and that's where it should stay. Only Gurky and Myself are members of the Admin team, and when we have information to share then we will happily share it. Our team should have been silent because no decisions or updates have been made within our Admin meetings, so there was not a whole lot our team could have said on the projects behalf. Once again, I apologize for any confusion that any of our team members may have made erroneously.

After much deliberation, I have begun considering to leave Kronos and move over to any new vanilla server when it eventually comes out. I was wondering if many others are feeling the same?

(Note: It should be obvious I am making fun of the why I am staying on kronos thread. If you haven’t seen it feel free to look here. https://www.reddit.com/r/wowservers/comments/5d8vfh/why_im_staying_on_kronos/)

I have compiled a short list below to explain why, in my opinion, Kronos is an ok choice of private server:

-It is the only decent vanilla private server out, until of course Elysium and Crestfall come out.

-Your server lags to unplayable levels everyday

-Lower level GMs are making comments on the forums that have only inflamed players it makes it seem there is currently zero communication or overall plan for the GMs as a collective.

-Every server has its own scripting problems. Kronos has faced the following issues such as pathing, the warlock dreadsteed quest bugs frequently, summoning people in gryphon often leads them to die, pets still can’t go on boats, Garr used to crash the server if pulled incorrectly, gates closing and locking the raids out at random times in both AQ40 and BWL, Kurinaxx sand blast visually doesn’t appear where the blast is actually being applied, RISE obsidian quest used to be bugged, bosses not dropping loot, all pets bugging and getting random abilities, adds bugging and were only able to be killed with aoe spells, Twin emps bugging and teleporting next to each other, on K2 I heard the Razorgore dragonkin adds have a major issue, none of the kodo escort quests in Desolace working, and many more. Nost had its own issues but so did Kronos.

-Kronos is not in a good place. Half my guild raid logs due to having nothing to do and don’t tell me that there is always something to do they aren’t looking hard enough because I have personally fought for them and find things to do to keep people interested in the server and so have they. I now have doubts whether it’s worth fighting for at all. There's no point for me to fight for our players when the server isn't doing the same for us it’s that simple. You don't seem to understand that players are frustrated and why they are frustrated. You are making it harder on me to do my job because every time we need to do a raid or a 20man and not enough people show up because they no longer care to show up. Entire guilds are dying and claiming they are leaving the server in the coming weeks on K1. I have heard the same for K2 but I don’t know the extent of it.

-If population isn’t a problem then why did you immediately offer a 7x event for K1 when the nost announcement underwent.

-I would GLADLY relevel and do everything again because I really don’t care about my gear, gold, professions, or the current content on release when there is nothing to do with those resources. If you think I’m content with sitting in IF with AQ40 gear then obviously this isn’t the server for me. I care about community and the experience of Vanilla. I will say that content is nice and I’m grateful to have seen AQ40 under Kronos but content isn’t the deciding factor for me it’s the community that I care about. I will also add that refarming MC and BWL isn’t really a big deal at all because we will be doing the same thing on Kronos for ages until Naxx is released. Just because AQ40 is out doesn’t change the fact we are still farming the same content for ages still.

-I don’t want a raid logging guild and if my guild is forced to come to that I am done with Kronos. Mind you that my guild is becoming raid loggers not because that’s the kind of players they are but rather because Kronos has nourished an environment that supports this kind of behavior.

-K1 faction imbalance is ridiculous last I heard it was around 65% ally and 35% horde.

-Complete lack of communication between the GMs and the players. Just tell us you aren’t going to merge anymore so the people fighting for the merge will finally know their answer because to be honest you don’t deserve the care that these players exhibit for this server.

-I don’t think Kronos will ever be RIP but it will be a shade of what it could be.

-I’m also going to add here that the post Shandryn made suggesting K1 players swap to K2 since it’s the higher population server has had an effect on the server already and I am still pissed off about it. That a GM would vocalize their opinion of making K1 players give up their loot to merge with K2 shows an obvious K2 bias. We are your core we played here since the beginning before all this mess. We made your server live despite nost being the server to go to for the longest time. And now we’ve been told that all the effort that the guilds Vanguard, Synced, Risen, Coral, Fierce, Freefall, Onslaught, Agony, etc means absolutely nothing and is expendable for the new K2 server.

-K1 lacks new players to replenish players who leave the server or quit the game. The only new members Risen has gotten in the past couple of months is from other guilds disbanding not from new players leveling to 60 looking for a raiding guild.

That's all I can think of for now, it's just my 2 cents. I'm sure Nostlysium will be fine and Kronos as well, but I understand why so many people are thinking of moving from Kronos.

I am grateful for the vanilla experience the Kronos staff has given me. It has been a fun ride through and through but I really am getting fed up.

(Please don't just delete my post, I am just trying to get some debate going - thanks!)

Lastly the why I’m staying on Kronos thread seems to be written by a GM in my opinion. If you want us to stay give us a reason to stay time is running out and staying silent isn’t going to solve anything. Give it to us straight what your plan is no more fucking winky faces and speculative opinions. If a merge isn’t happening tell us now. If naxx is being released in 6 months or a year tell us now. If there is going to be a BC server tell us now. If the lag is not an issue you care to address tell us now. If your plan is to wait and hope for nostlysium to fail tell us now. We need an official announcement and not a podcast that no one can see anymore because it was deleted or whispers in the wind from random players.

We are all thankful for everything you do and you're right, there is no competition between Nostalrius and Kronos, but all people who want to stay here never commented anything in a manner Kronos vs Nostalrius.. It was always rather K1 versus K2 because it's pretty obvious that with low population and small influx of new players it's impossible to sustain 2 servers at decent playable state. Nostalrius always kept coming back into story because that's the reason why we're about to enter that state, nothing else. Everyone who rolled on Kronos before and decided to stay now, knew what to expect from the server, both population and scripting-wise. As you said it yourself, it worked well for old Kronos, population wasn't big but it was high enough for those who chose this project for some other reasons. But now everything people had before is devided between two sides, it's not the same as it was before.. That's what we were discussing here for the most part, existence of 2 Kronos servers and their fight among each other after Nost release, not actual Nostalrius vs Kronos.

Enough with the lag nonsense. There is not much left that Kronos can do on their end. It is their ISP. For them to switch ISPs they would have to physically move and reconfigure their server which would result in weeks of server downtime. Do you really think that is a good idea? Furthermore, when you go play on the new nost servers, you'll be wishing for the "lag" that was on Kronos.

Yes, it is a good idea. The sooner the better.
One thing is to play and have to deal with some bugs, but another much different thing is to have to deal with LAG.
Lag can drive you crazy while playing any online game, you stop enjoying to play because you literally can't play.
That HAS to be fixed, whatever it takes, as soon as posible.

Considering I came from the Nost servers, raided for months and did the GM grind twice, I'm well aware of Nosts lag. That being said, in Raids(MC, BWL, ZG) there was very little lag, the world/pvp was a whole different story. At least from an NA perspective and that was with 8000+ people on during NA peak. I'd hazard to guess that during K1 primetime there's less than 2k players and although it's been fine for me in NA for months now, it's now a steady 700ms with spikes to 3k. That's unplayable and when I'd join my friends for Euro runs on Nost, there was never this kind of lag, with 13k players online. Not to say that Nost didn't have its own share of problems, but having crippling lag is fun for no one.

Yes I do. I choose 2 weeks of downtime with no lag afterwards over infinity of constant lag.

It's admirable that you keep defending Kronos in all of these threads but you also don't seem to offer any kind of rational thought with your statements. Right now would be the absolutely BEST possible time to relocate the hardware, because Nostalrius hasn't relaunched yet. If they wait for Nost to launch, lose players, then move the hardware and have 2 weeks of downtime.. well fuck, by then, half the server will already have 60s to play and raid with on Nost.

You 8-10 K1 guys who keep posting should open your own server. You seem to have it all figured out.
And on the other hand, you seem to be most loud and most stubborn and one of the rare voices of K2.

Most of the K1 people want the merge, looks like K2 wants it too (no surprise huh, seeing how many guilds confirmed leaving).
Whatever Sarei said is true, and just see the amount of forum users voting him up, because it makes sense. And all I managed to see from your posts is that you believe so much in K2's destiny and that you believe K2 will still be superiour to K1 in couple months. Well it wont be. K2 is offering whatever Nos offers, but with 10% of the population Nos offers.
And yes, I completely understand the need and the wish of the K2 players to go through War Effort and to grind the mount, but if population really drops that much it will be impossible to ever finish the effort and it will just seem pointless. I promised myself when I rolled on Kronos that I want the scarab lord and I did it, and yes I would be really sad if I got stuck in this situation where K2 players are stuck now but proposing some *****ic nonsense of rolling K1 server back to MC/BWL is nothing but dumb. If there is something that would make K1 guilds quit it is exaclty that.

I'm pretty sure that to 99.9% of K2 players who want to stay here and raid AQ40 the whole event and the effort doesnt really matter. Yes it is nice, but from my experience, and I went through war effort on 2 private servers, its not fun once you move by 1% every 2 days. Those who decided to leave will leave anyway, those who wanna stay can surely get over it and enjoy the game on one big Kronos. (And noone said that there cannot be some little event for K2 players after/before the merge.)

It sounds that while you understand what people are saying, you do not understand the players themselves.

From the post you have written, I can make (perhaps false) conclusion that you as a WoW player are a kind of a player who logs in and plays from time to time, but spends most of his time just doing his GM work and managing this great little server they have and their project that they like so much. Also, from the way you wrote that post, I am assuming that the way you see it, as long as there are guilds raiding, battlegrounds happening, people leveling, it all looks fine to you and your own project of managing the realm goes on successfully, no matter on how small scale those events are happening. That's what you care about and as long as it keeps going on, however slow and small, for you it's a success. Again, from what you wrote in that post, it doesn't seem that you care much about how much the population drops as long as some people remain and enjoy what you offer them.

But there are other projects of certain people on your realms called guilds; small projects of their own leader teams that they dedicate(d) years of their life into managing and making them work and progress. They are the backbone of any realm and without them things become empty and most of the game loses value for the players. Now what guilds and their leaders and members need is enough members to support guild events happening - mostly raid events, and they need manpower to replace old members who quit the game from time to time. So there needs to be some balance between people who quit and people who join.

Now, the thing is, from your post guild leaders can read the following (I am paraphrasing): "Meh, doesn't really matter if people leave and population drops to an unsustainable level causing most of the guilds to disband, as long as we have some guilds remaining and keeping the raid business at top end of the game active so that realm can continue to function. We've had low population before, we can have it again and survive and go on." You don't seem to understand what this looks like from the perspective of an average raider player, or battleground player. Every guild that the realm loses plants the seed in other guilds and every additional guild that leaves shortly after strengthens it. In short term one guild disbanding typically means that a small percentage of their players joins one of the other guilds who lack members and seemingly things become okay for a short while, but thinking that way completely neglects the fact that people become emotionally attached to the group of players they spend a lot of time with and most of those players lose a huge portion of their interest in the game resulting in most of them quitting for good; Or in case of whole guilds migrating to other realms they follow their old friends elsewhere. And again, there are no new players patching up the holes so eventually we arrive at the same situation again.

For your own project to work out successfully you need guild projects to work our at least somewhat successfully. If guild leaders are afraid of what's coming and you, instead of reassuring them and actually trying to keep guilds together by taking necessary steps, tell them that it doesn't really matter to you and that Kronos is about trust, friendship and enduring hardship while not offering them what they need... most people will choose to keep their guilds together and feel betrayed by the administration of the realm. This will reflect badly on the reputation of the administration and the realm and ultimately cause descent of the whole project. Most of the Nost-originating guilds have already announced that they will move to the new Nost realm once it becomes available. Faction imbalance on K1 is real already, NA to EU imbalance is significant. Now consider that most of the NA guilds will leave for the new Nost, and some EU guilds like Illustrious, Outplayed and the chinese gold-selling guilds will go back as well. Add on top of it all that it seems Risen is about to leave as well, so NA player base will be... <ONSLAUGHT> and <Unite And Vanquish>?

And on top of all these troubles you have this insanely annoying, unpredictable and most often unplayable lag making the experience of playing and having fun on your project absolutely impossible.

I am quite confident that 90% of K2 isn't even aware this thread exists therefore their voice and opinion isn't being heard. As for the last sentence in your post I am in agreement. This entire time I have been asking for some sort of compromise between the two servers where it is fair for both. Unfortunately most of what I am hearing is things along the lines of "K1 has worked too hard for their gear, fuck K2 no compromises. Servers need to be merged tomorrow."

Kronos 1 was fun the time it lasts.

I stopped playing last month, i was bored of lag/having hard time setting raids because no player to recruit/no pvp scene, no horde at all, farming AQ/BWL/MC.

I am expecting some action to save K1 in order to come back for Naxx or something else.

If you could just tell us you will let things go without a plan, it would help a lot of players to decide what they'll do. For my part, i could actually donate my "wealth" to my guild to prepare for Naxx and get over with.

I totally agree with Brochette's and Erminn's last posts. There have been times where a merge would not have been necessary (but still healthy), but the new Nost situation changes everything. I have been playing and raiding on Warsong, ED, Nefarian and both Nost realms and I have seen some oft these projects shatter, only because the admins allowed negative emotions about some of these projects to grow. You, my dear Kronos admins, are right now doing the same mistake, but you still have a last chance of saving Kronos from becoming a desert, by adding a XP event, merging k1 and k2, releasing naxx soonish, fixing the lags and giving us the opportunity to transfer our characters to a TBC realm when naxx is done. I know this is a lot oft work, but in the postfactual society we are living in you at least need to promise all that stuft to keep players here. Even if you can not keep all those promises.

*edit - I was on the bus and did not have enough time finishing this post*

So I am basically not telling you to lie to your community, in fact you should present everything you do in a much brighter light. Be loud and be heard. Make patchnotes, constantly. Make hype threads about how cool and unique the upcoming changes will be. Do it just like Nostalrius team or even D. Trump. You have to present yourself in a way better light, because Nostalrious does this, even though their server is superior to yours in only one point: Number of active players.

Right now you seem to be sitting in your chamber, waiting... and waiting... and - guess it - waiting. And the community is of course attracted by the hype wave from the other vanilla project. In times of uncertainty of how the population will develop - and that is the main concern of all people here - people will follow the server that has most population and that the dev team that shouts loudest: "Our server is the best, come here, play with 10000 ppl at the same time."

P.S. I like your server much better than nostalrius, Imo it is the best scripted server I've been playing on yet. But how you act right now is Imo very wrong.

what a dumb statement.

ofc there is only a handfull of ppl writhing. 99.999% of the population just accept whatever happens (in wow-private-server-life same as in politics (see the us of a)). Only 10 ppl activly fighting here on the forums dosnt mean they are the only ones seeing the problem or wanting to solve it.

but 99.999% of the ppl just see the fate of kronos, they whine about it, they flame kronos, they want to change stuff and stay, but they just dont do anything about it. so kronos continues its journey downhil, and eventually thouse ppl will leave (i mean, why wouldnt you if there are better alternatives)

i mean, i have no idea to what extend kronos-stuff rly gives a fuck about the comunity or just has its profits in mind (as someone said, they might want k1 ppl to sell their accounts, and invest some real monney inorder to reroll on k2 for more monneyz in their pokets or some shit, idk) and thus i dont know if this "fighting on the forums" is even gonna do something (nothing happened in ~4 weeks for now).

but probably 90% of k1 poputlation are unhappy right now, unhappy but silent.
true, there are probably some who dont give a fuck, curz their raiding-guild is still there, and anything besides the interior of aq/bwl doesent matter to them anyway.
but the majority of the population is unhappy. lack of new players comming, and the (always accuring, curz its natural) quitting of other high-lvl players, dries the server out.

the world is dead, the trade is slow, dungeons are empty.

also my dear kronos-team, remember when the nost-refugee-wave hit kronos the hardest and population was awesome? remember how many ppl traded and bought new accounts, curz in such an active environment, it is fun to try other classes and do shit? member all the monneyz ? i member ;) i bet you member ;) make your pockets full again!

Before the news of this new server RMB had never missed an AQ20 or ZG lockout, and we still wouldn't have if the GM's had been forthright with a plan forward. The majority of my guild is waiting to see what the plan is. As for now RMB plans on staying here on K1. You may be or not be aware, but the core of our guild rerolled from Nost and is still active. We have BIS chars on that server as well. I want this server to succeed and I want RMB o succeed with you on Kronos, but throw us a bone. If you have a plan please let us know, even if that plan is to do nothing. I have played on private servers since May 2012 about 8 people in my guild I met over 4 years ago. This is my third time switching servers and I would like to stay here, please give me a reason to stay.
