So if your guild down Onyxia faster next time please link it here so we can update the progress :)
Who will break the 2 minute barrier first?!

Thank you, you're very kind, yes, Horizon continues to grow and improve

However, that had nothing to do with the point the person who linked our Log made to you, i.e. that the speed at which you kill Onyxia has nothing to do with raiding proficiency, so I will give you the longer explanation now.
The Log shows you that we shaved 2 minutes off our Onyxia encounter simply by forcing P2 early, while beforehand we always waited more than a minute before even beginning to Wand & White Hit. And we shaved those 2 minutes despite 25% of our already incomplete Raid screwing around and dying during the fight. We, as a number of other guilds, both Horde and Alliance, normally opt for the old-school slow-motion Onyxia strategy, which you can clearly see in all our previous logs by checking our total DPS during the first few minutes. And the reason is habit, OCD, or merely nostalgia, and not inability.

Uhmm, I admit I thought you created this thread merely to annoy the people you were arguing with in the previous one, but if you are genuinely looking to make an assessment for your own benefit, I recommend Ragnaros as a much better benchmark, being an encounter all raid leaders seek to optimize a bit, time wise. In my guild's case, the logs show me that Horizon is currently 2nd on Alliance side (2m22s), behind Synced (1m43s), and 4th overall, behind Synced, Agony (2m2s) and behind Arcanum (2m7s) as well, the guild you chaps were shitting on in the initial thread. I cannot be content with our time, given that I know for a fact that I have lots of members who are not yet using the gear granted to them to its full potential, but, given our relaxed attitude vis-a-vis consumables, monitoring this End Boss encounter at least tells me that my crew is in an all right spot, comparatively.

Good luck to you and to CORAL! /bighugs

Horizon would actually be #3 on alliance, CORAL has a top clear time of 2:21 :p

Trip, you’re a tease
If I wanted to play this, I would paraphrase you and write that CORAL would actually be #3 on Alliance, nowadays Horizon has a top clear time of 2m2s, placing us at #2 overall, tied with Agony.

But please read my words in the spirit in which they were written.
You have a great guild and I know it. I ventured to make a recommendation to your guild member because he placed us all on a whimsical list, which he then cast in terms of guild performance. Now, BWL is coming up, so perhaps assessment was his reason, after all. Personally, I only asked myself whether we’re ready, but if I would want to check whether we’re more or less ready than other guilds, I, as an Officer in a fellow raiding guild, would look at Ragnaros. Tactics and rhythm vary so much on Onyxia, that assessing a kill as faster than anyone else’s tells you as much about your DPS as Liqorice being declared the whitest person in an African village tells you about his ethnicity. It is simply not a good metric, in my opinion, and that was the sole point I wanted to make.

My good thoughts to all!
