From what I remember reckoning let me stack extra damage while I chased anybody around because crits weren't uncommon and then I could just unload once I got up to them and blow them apart. Wasn't perfect but I remember it improved my ability to take a break to heal and then come back with a vengeance.
 
If you got competent healers reckoning is a viable spec for BGs. But I am thinking of going full ret now that people seem aware on me being reck so no one hits me.. :no:
