Showcase: Creature AI #3

I have a qzick question. Was the mob spreading realy like this in vanilla? I cant remember. Wouldnt you get problems when tanking a lot of mobs? (no dodge/blocks from behind)

Well check out this video of a 70 pala doing an aoe pull in sm cathedral, assuming behavior was the same in tbc as in vanilla:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2ESPg2zuFng

You see that he needs to backpedal and reposition in order to keep the mobs in front of him while they are positioning. I notice that mobs are standing quite far away from him.

Same for packs that are a bit smaller:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NJMJZ6bbToY

In the kronos video he aggros the mobs from all directions and doesn't really bother repositioning so they stack around him.

So I wonder if this works properly for melee classes.

Dear future players,

And before you ask, dungeon previews are still on our list and will be shown in future videos. We have gathered a lot of stuff to show in the upcoming weeks and we are certain that you are going to like it.

Enjoy and stay tuned!

Don't want to be THAT guy, but "upcoming videos" + 83% = no release for months.

I will have to agree with you Szabinger...especially since Chero has stated "alot of stuff to show in the upcoming weeks" so likely the the release date won't be announced until after those upcoming weeks (2 or more weeks thanks to the pural). Then once the ETA is announced the server wont be opened for around 2 more weeks.

So we are looking at a minimum of another month before a release. That loses my bet with my guild :(. Gonna start my character in debt :(

Great showcase and I'm really impressed about the mob-spreading! Finally it's over with those lazy-ass tanks standing in one place

This will probably make some private-server used tanks crumble and free fall in later instances but it's awesome to see it taken care of properly.

For a dungeon showcase the already mentioned ZF stairs are of course top1 to see but what about:
Hakkar in the Sunken Temple?
The final boss event in WC? (Forgot the Murlocs name - dugh!)
Will all bosses of the Blackrock depths be available? Like the Watchmen and following elite's?

Those are quite the MOSTLY BUGGED things I've stumbled upon on various other projects - tough Kronos sure got my trust they'll do great with the mentioned events.

Still impatient as f***

What events do u want to see in the next preview? Ofc stairs in ZF but what else?

BTT: Finally a new vid :>

I would like to see the escort quest in Razorfen Downs. And the battle itself with the summonable boss.

I'm thinking something like this;
-Cuergos gold
-ZF pyramid
-Pimped Grim Guzzler
-I think ive seen that BRD bridge event is fixed
-Stitches always gets them ;)
-And of course escort quests like Desolace caravan or eng chickens escorts
-Maybe Deadmines
-Why not show off with 100% WSG!
-Class quests
-Missing Diplomat ofc!

Thank you for a nice video, waiting for more!

Really need to see missing diplomat working!!

Hype? The hype died months ago when we thought the server would actually be released. Every preview leads to more annoyance. Wait for a dungeon preview? In March? Seriously, everything seems to be working, just give some hard facts. These previews only target a narrow range of people already inside the private-server community who knows what this is about, it will not attract new players, they wouldn't understand shit about how impressive your scripting is. All they will see is "TBA server" and a forum topped to the limit with posts wondering when the ETA is.

You might be right but as well wrong. Most newcomers to p-servers will probably jump right off and into some other projekt - like myself.

Go ahead and try some other already working project's and you'll be back here in no-time!

I've tryed quite a few to now and still play on a few but most bugs I discover on those are already fixed in the bug-tracker on here.

So is it annoying to wait for it like that? Sure it is!

Will it be worth it?
Even if they just stick to half the promises made the quality will still most likely be far above the actual average.

Can't think of something like "Doors won't open for about a week because of a hotpatch" could happen here

I think this is a good tactic. Show some good fixes that are very rare on other servers and then BAM a nice preview with dungeons events. Followed by an ETA announcement.
I would like to add to the list :
-Vectus event in Scholomance. It is nicely done.
-Jail Break in BRD.

Uh, then I don't understand why you keep annoying yourself (?) by reading and posting to these forums. I told already to some other forum user that he is free to go, no one is keeping you here, no one is owing you anything and no one asked you here to stay.

These forums are here for people being interested in Kronos and things around it. ..not for people spitting all around while all they have to do is nothing.

Wouldn't that imply that there is interest? Feels like you tried to weaken your own argument.

I don't deny that there is interest. Hell, I am really looking forward to the release myself. Release, not showcase videos. None of the friends I have recruited understood what the showcase videos were about, they just kept asking me for the ETA and I had no answer. Hence, I have stopped trying to recruit players until I have some useful information.

I know what the benchmark for a good private server is, but not the more inexperienced people I try to recruit, hence the showcase video is worthless as a promotional tool for them. The videos might help if you work under the assumption that every interested player will try and dislike a different private server, watch the video and be impressed by the scripting or whatever.

My personal opinion is that these showcase videos please a very narrow audience who frequents these forums anyway, and maybe a guy here and there from a different server. How these videos will attract players from outside the private community (read: a population a bazillion times larger) is beyond me.

So what would u capture in a showcase to attract these people in your opinion? Except a ETA.

I give you credit for writing a reply as a developer, but taking the defensive approach isn't helping your cause.
I try to give the feedback of the community I represent, but more often than not I get replies starting with "this is a free server".

You took down the server due to a low population, and now a re-launch is on the horizon. I give you specific feedback that the showcase videos seem to be aimed at the people already deep within the community, and that people like myself who actively recruits players here are left empty-handed when it comes to promotional material.

I apologize for the crass first comment.

Thats exactly what they are supposed to do. The majority of interested players are already inside the vanilla wow community.

How these videos will attract players from outside the private community (read: a population a bazillion times larger) is beyond me.
By attracting the private server community. How did you hear about Kronos? How will players from outside the vanilla community hear about it? Word of mouth. As soon as a large part of the vanilla wow community recognizes a project and talks about it players from outside will join in and get interested.
Take yourself as an example. You told your friends about Kronos and keep them updated. Maybe not with the news they would like to hear, but still.

While I agree that this content may not be appealing to vanilla first-timers, you can find such videos on youtube from users such as Preach Gaming, where they are talking about why they like this version of WoW. Then you just say that Kronos is/will be the closest to retail or smth.
On the other hand I think more promo WOULD help. Even such small things as tweets or so. I think in this case it would be hard to reach level of 'too much'.

edit;
(not counting spaming other servers forums or chat of course)

You don't represent me.

More than 1500 views within less than 24 hours is really good. If it only counts every persons first view, then wow. Kronos launch will be big :)
