Shaman Spirit Totem quest drop rates bugged?

Farmed bears and spiders next to the Bulwark for I kid you not 25 minutes with only 1 claw drop from the bears. At this rate it would take me over 5 hours to complete the quest.
Did any other shamans experience this? This is the Shaman Sunken Temple quest chain at level 50+ btw.

As you can see the Carrion Vulture (there's only 2) and the Diseased Black Bears all have 1/5 chance of dropping your quest item. Make sure you are not in a raid group and good luck.

Not specificaly to the topic, but related:

Does the totem summoned by the trinket count as "water totem" or can you summon another water totem, normally?
