The state of epic questlines!

Alright. So I was going through some old notes I made of my favorite and epic questlines from vanilla that I always wanted to do again, and some of them I never got the chance to do, most of them removed with Cataclysm or even earlier.

And now we got Kronos, the best scripted vanilla private server out there (according to themselves and so far even me after beta testing). I be damned if I am not able to finally get to experience some of these amazing questlines. Some of them are long chains that span across the entire world and they use alot of scripts and have plenty of events, which makes them even more epic of course!

This is not an "is it broken?"-thread. I can imagine that if these chains were broken somewhere along the questline, they will get fixed ASAP by Kronos team. In other words, this does not worry me at all. What does worry me however (on every private server thus far) is the scripting and how well they are able to handle the events that triggers during these chains. If these quests are not working properly when you complete them, ie not triggering a certain conversation etc, you never get the chance to do it again and see what was suppose to happen, unless you level an alt I suppose.
For me the quests in WoW are extremely important and I tend to spend most of my votepoints on quests issues in the bugtracker as well. One of the main reasons for me to play vanilla is to travel across Azeroth and quest quest quest, relive the nostalgia from something that is gone on retail.

So. I was going to ask if any of the beta testers and/or staff might provide me with some info on how these chains are working as of now. If anybody got around to test some of these let me know.

And I know that I can test it out myself but since these chains are very long, require travel and lots of time and sometimes are very hard to solo, I turn to the community for information to get a better estimate of what to expect.

Here is a list of some of the questlines:

[20]-[25] "The Hermit" in Duskwood that leads to Stitches invading event

The following is not in the game at all yet, right? It's so important it deserves a mention anyway.

Gates of Ahn'Qiraj - "The Scepter of the Shifting Sands" chain

TLDR: How are these epic questschains working script-wise? Are they well tested? Anybody tried it out during beta and can give any sort of feedback? Cheers!

[55]-[60] "Rewriting the Battle of Darrowshire" in Eastern Plaguelands

The very last part of this quest chain (where you start the battle) wasn't working on Cataclysm in Artemis, due to the final stage being broken (it wouldn't let you place the bag to start the final battle). I'm not sure if it's working yet on Kronos or fixed or something.

Here's the bug report: https://cata-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?quest=27390#issues

Later tonight I'll go see if it's working, if I get the time. It's a really great quest and story =p

What i know for certain, what worked year ago with all scripts:
The Hermit
Battle of darrowshire (see bugreport, only very minor flaws)
Its as secret to everybody
Corrupted ashbringer
The Great Masquerade

Thanks for the info guys! I'd really appreciate if you could give feedback after you've tested tonight Aeriallis! What are these "minor flaws" Aieris? If NPC pathing is slightly off is indeed just minor, but if conversations are off/not triggering that is a bigger deal to me as I mention in the OP, even if the quests are "completable".

I hope I have time to do the "Redemption" questline with Tirion Fordring and "The Missing Diplomat" about King Varian. But I know the Diplomat didnt get finished until TBC when they added quests and I probably wont play much alliance myself, so maybe its not as big of a deal (to me atleast), even though I remember that I really liked that questline but never got around to finish it.

Also, I really hope the "You Are Rakh'likh, Demon" questline in Swamp of Sorrows works well though, that is a must-do for everyone! :cool2: If anyone is able to do it or have any info about it let me know! Remember that you gotta do the pre-quests before it unlocks the chain though. It starts with "Fall From Grace" and becomes available at level [55] for the Horde and "Petty Squabbles" which becomes available at level [57] for the Alliance in Badlands.

Ye im sorry nimeralos, the bugtracker system is great and all! But there was a couple of reasons I made a thread instead of only searching the tracker (which I did as well and voted for quests mostly). I wanted to hear peoples impression of these quests and events in a more elaborative way where they can share thoughts and opinions, instead of just writing a tiny report in case they find anything. I was mostly curious of how people felt the scripts worked even tho the quests themselves werent all broken.
Making a thread could also spark peoples intrest to want to try them out before the end of beta at all in case they werent well tested yet by the Kronos staff. I feel like working quests that trigger events are extremely important to get the full experience. And I also felt to lazy to search thru all the quests in the bugtracker to check if they were part of these long chains or not, or maybe a pre-requisite to them or whatever, every quest is important though.

Yep, you're right. I've answered the part of your question which have already been answered by Aieris himself, in the comments to the issue :) Quests are very important indeed, hope we'll see them in a great shape.

Bit late, yet I have tested the Your Name is Rakh'likh, Demon quest-chain on your behalf, Magnifican.
I have recorded it this last Saturday, yet on Sunday I have received a new project (yes, I work when I'm needed), so I only got around to processing, editing and rendering the footage yesterday evening. Finished uploading some time during the night.

Enable Annotations if you do not have them on by default, there I give you my feedback and explain where there are faults in scripting and what not, especially during the encounters. And select 1080p manually, youtube automatically states 1080 HD while a great many times it actually fails to transition from 480-720.
Fair warning. I had no experience with showcasing an entire quest-chain, so I had to experiment a bit with the format and soundtrack. Honestly, I tried to give it a touch of atmosphere, but, checking it now, my 17th century baroque may be a bit too effective for a sedative. I have inserted a few moments to jolt you awake, but these may be too little, too late. So if it's a bit unbearable, my regrets.

Hope this helps you make up your mind.

Woah!! This is awesome man, really impressive! Thanks alot for this! I hope the team takes a look at this video too. Did you make some reports to the bugtracker as well?

These are the Bug Reports generated following the recording.

Bug report for the Razelikh the Defiler encounter.
Bug report for the Grol the Destroyer encounter.
Bug report for the Lady Sevine encounter.
Bug report for the Archmage Allistarj encounter.
Bug report for the The Stones that Bind Us quest.
Bug report for the Heroes of Old quest.

As you can see, Yakyro has tested the beginning of the quest chain too.
If you are interested in other quest chain reports, I suggest you at least check Nimeralos' narration of the Defias Brotherhood one.

Take care
