Big Game Hunter: Quest Suggestion

Dear Twinstar Staff and community,

I'd like to personally thank you for all the work and effort invested in this Kronos vanilla-wow project, I will speak on behalf of my friends that we are most thankful for everything you've done here so far.

This thread is to make a suggestion of a rather unpleasant aspect of the game for some players, possibly a bug but i am not 100% sure on that so im not posting it as a bug, just a suggestion for now...

After completing the Beast Mastery quests and turning them in, acts which i've did following advice from fellow players on how to attain the BiS ranged weapon for lvl 29 twinking on hunter, reward from the [Big Game Hunter] quest, I observed the quest marker was grey hence the level requirement of the [Big Game Hunter] quest itself was not 28 but higher than 29(unknown) in spite of this fact all the other quests were obviously doable at 29.

My suggestion is to lower the quest level requirement of the [Big Game Hunter] to 28 or 29 or whatever is the requirement of all the other required quests of that specific chain which open it, this is mostly for twinks to be honest, but also for people who travel and level in stv at 28, some would be open to group up at lower levels to acomplish just this feat.

At Vanilla TwinHead (the data website for Kronos), where you can see the information exactly of how it is in-game, you can verify that the quest Big Game Hunter requires level 31 to obtain it.

Thank you for the quickfacts tristan, i never found that database, as to how it used to be in vanilla well ...

on 1.12.2 patch comments there are many mentions of level 29 twinks owning one of those items.

Why is it that you can complete all pre-quests to the Big Game hunter yet not itself ?
 
My suggestion to you is you try to find evidence of that quest being completed at level 29 on vanilla retail. If you can, open an issue to the quest on the website I told in my last post, and vote for fixing. And then, Devs are probably gonna fix it :wink:
 
I believe they just checked the old database back then to see find BiS gear in order to write that guide, I don't think this automatically means they personally obtained all of this gear to test that out.. Correct me if I'm wrong
 
A friend and I twinked and used the weapon and chest reward from an earlier part of the chain. We had to research the xp we would be getting so as to plan ahead for it. I certainly don't have any proof these days but do recall doing this, and we had to help each other on our mains to complete it.

Not sure the links work, but if you go to web.archive.org and type in http://www.thottbot.com you can pick a date from Pre-BC/1.12.1 to view archives.

I selected Oct. 2006 and put the quest name "Big Game Hunter" in, selected the first link labeled group quest, and it pulled up the results of others stating the same, thottbot stated Big Game Hunter obtainable at 29, with the chain beginning at 28.

Whether or not that's considered proof, I have no idea. Good luck!

WoWWiki doesn't have any info on the level requirements of the quest before patch 2.0, so this doesn't tell us if they changed it with the patch, or if 31 is simply the lowest recorded level on the site (see explanation below).

I have no clue what's in that thread as it wasn't available on web.archive.org, but I'm guessing the meaning of it is that you'll usually have levelled to at least 31 by the time you reach the final quest, so it's hard to find record of anyone doing it at 29.

There you are, case solved. If you already made the issue on the bugtracker, add this information and vote for it so they fix it soon :)
