First of all, you ought to enjoy your specialisation. I have changed mine quite a lot of times, trying to use different ones each time, and I think the one I came up with now is what I like.
Secondly, if you do not do one-on-one PvP and play supportive roles instead, then Holy specialisation is what you want. If you have enough spare points, you might want to go into Retribution (Pursuit of Justice, specifically), however, in group that probable won't be important.
If you like being as strong as an ox and outlast your enemies or a great fighters who kills everything that moves quickly enough on his own, you might want to check out some of standrard templates:
- Shockadin (Seal of the Crusader + Divine Favor + Holy Shock);
- Reckadin (gain as much Reckoning stacking as you can and then strike to kill);
- Full Retribution (heavy two-handed weapon, Seal of the Crusader + Seal of Command + passive bonuses, Sanctity Aura).
I think there was some fourth template, but I'm not sure what it was. Also, I couldn't find any pictures of exact talent points distribution, so if anybody can provide it, I'd be interested in them, too.
What I use (and I still enjoy PvP, including world PvP) is passive bonuses for myself only and not for a group. After all, these are
my talents. I am two levels away from it at the moment, but this is what it'll be at 60:
-
Passive defensive.
I use it with a polearm from Alterac Valley quest, but I believe it should work well with sword and shield, too.
You might also want some more offensive passives, like Conviction, for example, depending on your style of play. In that case, just sacrifice something from Protection or Holy (I suggest anything 5/5 and not 3/3 + 2/2).
Thirdly, care about your mana. Do not spend it all unless you are sure you'll have time to regenerate before the next wave of enemies (do not forget they could drink potions).

I like having the option to tank, heal or dps the sub 50ish dungeons, makes grouping a lot easier which is why the 11 Holy. I'm still trying to figure out pvp. I got annihilated by a mage 2 levels below me yesterday.
This is a bit different question. No matter what your spec is, fighting casters (especially shadow priests) can be really tough. You might want to evade the fight alltogether sometimes.
Regarding mages, you might really want Repentance and Pursuit of Justice against them, but I wouldn't go for it unless you're Full Retribution. I am not great against them, either, but always make sure you have correct aura on depending on what they cast. Also use Blessing of Freedom as often as you can, and trinkets might help with it, too. Another advice I could give you (although I have not yet tested it) is to use your Divine Should while their strong fire ball (about four seconds cast, I think) is on its way to you. You will probable be at some distance during that moment, and also probably you'll be a sheep, so Divine Shield will negate the shield and potentially high damage. And make sure to use your stun wisely, depending on what your enemy is casting.
Generally, though, it's better to avoid those who're faster than you (mages, druids and shamans) at all.
