Rogue Weapons while leveling

I´ve been busy the last weeks planning my rogue down to the finest details. Everything is pretty much settled except one thing; weapons during leveling. I´m specifically asking for swords/maces/daggers from different quests around Azeroth that will be worth while getting. The Thrash Blade and Vanquisher's Sword is two examples that I will be definitely getting. :smile:

That's it, lasts you from the very beginning until you ding 60.

I had a lot of fun solo farming Toxic Revenger dagger from Gnomeregan. Good Ambush/Backstabbing dagger. Not the best for leveling speed though (positional).

All blue daggers without DoTs, preferably slow. If you plan to PvP at least. Honestly, at low lvl a dagger rogue is extremely overpowered, you can almost 1-shot clothies.

So it's worth going dagger even if you'll find it slightly more difficult to lvl.

Daggers are horible for leveling. Yes, you can oneshot cloth players, but you have like 15% chance for it... Maybe more if you spec for ambush. But what you want to be effective at while leveling is killing NPCs.. Sometimes multiple NPCs and that's very difficult with daggers.

What i can recomend is using 2.4 swords/maces as main hand + anything in offhand (fast weapons are better for poison procs) with combat talents.

For particular weapons - use what drops. It's not worth it to farm something special.

not true at all. With proper talents you have 100% ambush crit everytime. Till lvl 40 its almost instant kill.

Dagger leveling was sure slow. A lot of waiting around for energy to regen and a lot of gouging to be able to backstab. It was fun in retail when there was a lot of 19-29-39 BGs.

I would definitely level as combat or sub if I wanted to roll a Rogue.

lack of low level brackets on kronos makes the issue quite different (I agree, my main interest is low-level rogue pvp). You get so few opportunities otherwise (and if you aren't in Europe, lag is a pretty big issue for pvp for melee), that it seems questionable to spec for pvp when it is a fraction of what you will be doing. If low-level bg's become viable, this changes.

Given how little pvp there is at low levels, I cannot imagine not using the slowest 1h mace or sword I could, and going mainly assassination, at least until mid-30s. given all the time to stealth and position for sub. rogue ambush pve vs outdoor mobs, I just don't see the upside. Once you get hemo. it might even out some. I am not sure. so many sub talents or talent choices just aren't relevant for pve leveling.

at 32, could do http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#fMZZVMgc0h0o though I am not sure this will do any better than just staying in assassination longer. you give up a LOT of damage buffs, have to spend time stealthed for ambush, etc. I don't have hard numbers of how serrated blades/hemo/the hemo debuff works vs. a slow 1h mace or sword with imp ss,.

maybe http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#fMe0oxZZVMgc0h0o as a goal at 46, initially going 16/2/0 and keeping the 2 in improved SS until you get hemo. I just don't see much beyond that in subt. that is going to replace the static or frequent damage buffs of the lower assassination tiers. I still doubt this is less efficient for leveling that mainly assassination + Imp ss.
