My humble top 3 list of things that K3 must do if it is to be successful.
  • Proper item progression - no Turbans in MC etc.
  • No multi-boxing + no exp event ever
  • Fix old significant bugs related to spells - Clearcasting, bugged channeling spells (Arcane Missiles), mage 8/8 abuse, ...
  • Bonus: would love to see - scripted DM arena, Desolace escort quests :D
What is your list?

A bit too time-consuming I'd say. They don't need to do it just because Nost did. On the other hand, people seem to like this particular type of "funservers". I dunno, if it's easy to take from their open source, then go for it; otherwise, there're more important things to polish IMO.

Some of your list will make you happy ;). But as much as I have really pushed "Desolace escort quest" getting fixed, this is a very challenging issue so I can't say that it will for K3. There are very few (if any) servers that have this working for a reason.

Not that hard to prevent titanic legs pattern and those 1.11 items from dropping ... Same for t0.5 before bwl/AQ ...
MC and BWL are too easy because world buff and fury warriors can be BiS just by crafting 2 items and farming the arena armor+hoj without entering any real instance. MC and BWL are already easy, dont make it easier this time again.

Sure, but the OP mentioned proper item progression, which would mean Nost-like restatization of many items, not just locking a few. And it could be time-consuming.

But you're right, maybe it's better to simply lock some items.

I'm not sure about T0.5 though... It kept people quite active when it was just releazed. If it's released in a Blizzlike way, together with AQ, it won't get that much attention.

Yes, https://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=2933 making this ring a 2stam/6spi until 1.4 and T1 set stats pre-revamp isnt crucial, i agree. But some change like using the lvl 58 pvp set and epic set before it was up to the current stats, not releasing AD armament and Silithus quest too early shouldn't be that hard and would improve immersion greatly.

^This. I don't think many people care about every single detail, but all the important "catch-up" mechanics and items must not be present at launch. It will be a deal-breaker for a lot of people.

Things like tier0.5 being available generally just made stuff annoying. As a caster your preraid bis farm etc etc got a whole lot more difficult because you needed t0.5 ring and offhand etc, that stuff was too hard when green geared and often made UBRS go from a smooth run to a 1 hour longer run if your group was dead set on doing the summonboss, which should have no place in current gearlevels.

There's enough to do as a new player not to have to deal with the whole t0.5 questline earlier than intended. It won't really bring all that many more people back to doing 5 mans anyway, the only thing I've seen working in all the years of playing vanilla on retail and on pvt servers was feenix-style daily/weekly quests which offered a small reward killing a random 5man final boss daily.

Agreed, T0.5 questlines definately fall under the "important" category.

There is also one more thing I just remembered. Get rid of "cross-faction" mounts which are bought for stars - allow these vanity mounts only within their faction. No more (friendly) kodos in IF please...

I wish that BGs was be closed and honor system wasn't exist on K3 for half of a year.
Also I wish to not have 2hr+ queue and every 4hrs crashes on first two weeks of server start

sooo tier 0.5 will be ingame at launch alongside dire maul, and updated pvp gear? kinda weird imo.

Oddly enough, the version of Anathema core that Valkyrie project was using back in 2012 had the desolace escort quest working flawlessly. I think it's very likely that it was an in-house fix of script that was never released to open source that the Swedish dev that died in the motorcycle accident took to the grave with him.

Bloodcraft 3.3.5a trinity core also had it working correctly, but that was hand written by Svannon specifically for Trinity core so while I'm positive it was made open source, I'm uncertain if anyone could recover or make use of it.

I like the OP's list of suggestions and can't stress enough that keeping experience at x1 come hell or high water is absolutely necessary, along with a true no multiboxing hard rule. Both of those issues compromised Kronos when the flame wars between servers were tossed back and forth back in the day, but no point in going over it yet again. The change to Warlock summon so that it was level restricted for targets was genius and should remain in game as a custom feature, along with the hard cap of talent switching costs.

All rep-based profession recipes available at start. Timbermaw, Argent Dawn, Thorium Brotherhood, Cenarion Hold.
D2 chain released not later than the BWL patch/iteration.
Scourge Invasion bosses permanently available from the server start.

As a visually disabled person, I'd LOVE to see to "decrease weather intensity": slider actually work. Considering how often it seems to rain on Kronos, it makes it near unplayable not being able to turn it off the way it's intended. :[ Seems to be a common theme among Private Servers. Only one I've ever played on where weather was actually able to be turned off was Gummys.

It's kind of crucial that some items are locked to their original patches. I don't think it's important to revert T1 stats and stuff like that, but things like the 1.11 BoEs are so overpowered at the start that it'll cause serious issues. Same with certain PvP items, AD armaments, abyssal gear and so on. I'd say a healthy (and easily implemented) compromise is to make items unavailable until the content patch that they came with, but leaving the stats on existing items alone. Nobody wants arcane damage and health regen on T1, but it would be stupid if the server launches with items that were intended to be Naxx-era catchup gear. It's hard to adjust stats but really easy to just disable an item.

I do also agree with those saying catchup gear needs to be locked. On K2 content was so trivial MC was on farm for multiple guilds 1-2 weeks into having enough to actually fill a raid. It was somewhat demoralizing to be honest. That classic feel of "dear god everything is so hard" just wasn't there, and I believe that's why the population fell off so heavily around BWL.

Yes please! We all wanna farm that shit dungeon 4 hrs a week for the next 1-2 years!

*edit*
As I don't want to sound too offensive here, I just wanna state that in my opinion a progressive release of gear will not make initial raids significantly harder, nevertheless it would at least give the impression of things being more challenging.

You better up the respawn rate of named mobs to 1second for a week, because at 5mins minimum in starting zones, that would be soul destroying. Same goes for quest items like the supply zone in UD starting zones.

Overall when expecting it to be extremely busy, you might want even more insane respawns than your current dynamic one for a few days, just to clear the starting zones up a bit.
