    TwinStar team

I guess I'll be the one to say it

The biggest problem Nostalrius is having at the moment is the number of players logging in who actually played pre Burning Crusade that are discovering issues and saying "wow this place is borked". This is on top of players who are very familiar with horrible private server scripting like Molten and Feenix and are drawing direct comparisons and being really loud about it.

Right now I'm testing Horde side lower level content including Mulgore, Durotar, Barrens, Ashenvale, Stonetalon, 1000 needles, Arathi Highlands, and Hillsbrad + Alterac. I am finding bugs, but the majority of them are cosmetic (orc children in barrens not scripted with proper dialogue, etc). This server is surprisingly good.

I'll do what I can but what Kronos really needs are more testers actually testing, and giving good reports on the "first two weeks" block of content new players will undoubtably run across. Especially on Alliance side.

Learn from my mistake and impatience that the interface on the Kronos Database for reports needs to be refreshed to view your created report. Lol. I still feel like an ****t. I'll do my best.

Take your level 60's into lower level dungeons if you played old retail, and test out the stuff that's normally broken on private servers. The Wailing Caverns end event with the murloc, the fight with Arugal in Shadowfang, just all of it. Get the stuff located and reported in advance of the launch date.

Don't test Arugal alone. Kronos mobs sometimes don't use their abilities if only 1 players is close.
Theres no need for a Mindcontrol or AoE spell if you just have 1 target.

All of you guys on here bashing Nostalrius remind me of Sarah Palin bashing Obama, just sayin. Stretching the truth and mudslinging does not suit any of you well.

So uh. How did trying out Nost went for me:

1) log in, see like 200 people in Northshire that fight each other over a tag on a wolf;
2) "okaaaaay, maybe I should just run around and help them by healing and whatnot, questing comes later";
3) "Hey players, we're applying the patch that will make it easier for you to connect, heads up";
4) can't connect for 3 hours afterwards 'till they provide an alternative realmlist;
5) connected, it's still crowded like before (if not worse);
6) "okaaaay, guess I'll just go make server first Goldshire porn tape";
7) go there, /cheer at people on your way and pick up some autistic friends just because;
8) pluck some grey hair out as somebody links hippogryph feathers that apparently drop from wolves and all this talk about war effort npcs goes on;
9) go with your friend to Stormwind to see if Harlan Needs a Resupply is scripted (a really minor thing, which can be seen implemented properly even on servers with a population of 5 people total), and no it isn't, the guy won't even appear at all;
10) greetings charname
11) /sigh, /sleep and alt-f4.

Hope Kronos devs can learn some lessons from it.

The strong points of Nost, as far as I can see, are:
- no lag, fast queues.
- friendly community (but some of the people there are just checking).

Good luck to both K and N, I guess.

yeah yeah.. bug here bug there... but think is that thousands of players played on feenix and all we know how bugged failnix was..

There was kronos 2 and what happened with this players? nothing.. few ppl comes to kronos 2 and was amazed by this server.. 95 percent of failnix players dont wanted to change server cos they doesnt metter about bugs there. So if Nostla has toooo many bugs and all we know there are, players will still playing there cos they are lazy.. playing with bugs is soo easier for them...

But its ok. Everywhere and anytime there is the same situation. for example (I dont wanna iphone cos some mobile phone with android is much better.. after they try and test iphone they change their mind..)

Peace for all of you.. nosta and kronos players.. but everybody knows which server is better :)

the population amazed me big time. I honestly think anything above 2k is too much for vanilla. 4k seems way over the top, like can you even level? Cant imagine the STV hunters camp

What? That guy with his own opinion?
Honestly, it's not that far-fetched. Manipulating numbers is nothing new in the p. server scene.

To me that sounded more like a claim without any kind of proof, when any proof we have at this moment show in the other direction.

As far as proof goes, we don't have proof either way. But messing with the /who search, effectively disabling it, seems super fishy at best.

True, no real proof at this moment (if you consider the /who numbers not to be) but people are running census addons and i think the server wouldnt risk the bad publicy if their /who numbers turn out to be fluked. And undoubtly there are A LOT of people playing so 4k is kind of realistic.

Also just doing claims without any proof, just because they support your point of view are dumb. People can do the same stuff about this server too.
Kronos Beta had 120 players online not 1200... See what i did there?

well, these 4k=fake claims are not really my claims, so I don't feel like I should be the one to defend them. I've heard the reasoning behind them, it didn't sound stupid at all and without proof, everything else is just taking sides.

By the way, was there any official statement from the competition on the reasons behind the non-blizzlike(OMGOMGOMG), non-functional /who search? Simple yes or no will suffice, I don't want to stir up shit, only asking to satisfy my curiosity.

The numbers are real. 4.5k at peak. That is horde and alliance combined.

Has Kronos passed 1000 during the beta?

server open, got the pop, yet there are still lurkers? xD

/nah, deleted. But is there anyone that thinks 1k for a test isnt fucking huge? So many people like me who are not interested in them

well weird thing is that Census+ works differently on Kronos and Nostalrius. I scanned Nostalrius like 20 times and counted only about 1k on Alliance. When i counted players manualy i counted about 1.7k (/who stated total of +-3400 players, which is alliance + horde, which is very accurate result). But this could be an addon error. Another weird thing is that when i run this addon on Kronos and /who returns more than 50 players, it starts running /who on same level range, but this time with additional filters (class, race, etc..) to count them all, but on Nostalrius, when /who returns more than 50 players, it just registers those 50 players and continues to scan another level range. This is maybe reason why i only counter about 1k players on Nos, but i didn't figure out why this addon doesn't count them all as it does on Kronos.

About the population, I would say it could be true, there is a lot of people just everywhere, can't do a 5 minute Q in less than 20 min^^ Even the Mulgore was very populated and it was the least populated..
Well, about the quests, didn't find any not working, but I didn't do any "hard to script" quests.. About the instances, gonna go through some RFC soon.
By my opinion, the population here will be good, even though there is a lot of people on Nosta - there are some people like me, who just want to kill time and try a new server but are not interested in beta and I don't really believe that Nosta will / is better than Kronos so when Kronos is out, I'll be there and other people too :)

Your census took 1k players? Interesting, mine isn't even close.

I wondered if there was a mistake, so I ran another Census straight away... nope :yes:

I also logged to Kronos beta, but I can't take Census because of GM rights messing up the numbers.

I'll let the Census run for a while to see the results.

Don't run the census the ordinary way, make macro's to /who every level, zone, class and race or combinations of them to get everyone in a couple of clicks.

In retail you could only /who every couple of seconds while on private servers you can just spam it but the censusplus addon doesn't know that (if only someone could change that in the addon?)

Good idea. I think the spam restrictions still apply, at least for Kronos.

The way census works is that it goes through all the levels in increments of 5, so it scans levels 1-5, 6-10, etc., and takes the results. Since who list is limited to 50 people, it is normally set to 49 limit. That means whenever it encounters a 50 player result, it does the same search again, but narrowed down. First it closes off the level range up to a single level (aka /who 23-23). When it does not help and you still get 50 results, it searches for races (/who r-"Human"). When that still gives 50 results, it does search for races and classes (/who r-"Human" c-"Mage").

Continuing like this, it will eventually go through your whole faction.

Frenchmen simply reduced the amount of people showing up in the Who list to 49, this disabled the Census functionality. Don't ask me why, but your who list on Nos simply shows 49 players only instead of 50.

They also faked their displayed count. At the moment they have 2x level 36 players, so if you search for /who 36-36, you get 2 results. But your who window will still say 4900 People found (50 displayed). That is not correct, it should say 2 found (2 displayed) according to your filter.

So I opened CensusPlus.lua and lowered the CP_MAX_RESULTS to 48. That way, when you get 49 or more results, the Census will perform a narrower search. After that, my Census magically started working properly :smile: As I write this response, it's still running. Will post the result after that.

edit: fixed some info to be more accurate. Results confirm thousands of characters ingame. http://imgur.com/XSzGsGj
PS: It won't tell us whether they are bots or real players, but at least we know the spread.

edit2: horde side. http://imgur.com/5Salx6j

So that was the reason, why Census+ didn't narrow the search and just continued to next level range. Good digging, Psojed :smile:

Confirmed as real players. Some of them are just acting like bots.
As a first impression I see alot names from CoreCraft forum, but also alot from ED or Warsong (also Q-Gaming and ScriptCraft).

Knowing these 2 projects and seeing that their numbers haven't really dropped since Nostalrius launch I think they are more or less idle players that formerly played there.

I kinda think 25 days are not enough to finish the project. I wish i would be wrong.
But Twinstar needs to focus on Kronos now more than ever. I encountered many bugs during this beta, bugs that were not present on the late Kronos.
First of all stability issues. Highest priority. If we have server crashes during release the majority of players will leave. Only the "fanboys" will remain.
We need to create a good first impression. Fix the starting areas asap. Ofc after you fixed the core problems.
Nothing is better than a good start adventure for players.
Also please fix that flying mount bug when players drop on the ground. I've seen it fixed on other servers . It feels so natural when you see hundreds of players flying above you in a blizzlike way. This could be +1 to server.
I have seen some developers from other Twinstar realms giving a hand. You should increase that effort a bit. After all if Kronos proves to be a success, all Twinstar servers can gain popularity.
I have big hopes for this server and i want to play with another 1000+ players here.
Good luck guys!

You are right costy.

Then again, i experienced only a few bugs and only one with high priority: warrior spell - Last Stand (you can check bug report).

Judging from duels against Mage, Rogue, Warrior i can say that at least those 3 classes are quite polished.

Don't know much about Druids/Warlocks/Hunters yet, which are a little more tricky i suppose.
